Bringing the Message of Hope to Our Youth
Welcome to the Weekday Religious Education Program of Owen County, Indiana
WRE is a non-denominational, Bible-based educational program designed to introduce public school children to Christian teachings. Our goal is to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where students can explore faith, build positive relationships, and grow in their spiritual journey.
With weekly church attendance at a historic low and many children unchurched, WRE plays a vital role in bringing the gospel to our community's youth. This program is their primary exposure to the teachings of Christ.
Why WRE Matters
Did you know that 75% of WRE participants are not connected to any church?
75%

About Weekday Religious Education
What is WRE?
WRE is a nondenominational Bible based educational program operated and funded by volunteers. It is protected by a 1952 Supreme Court decision. Its purpose is to introduce public school children to Christ from the Bible.
Our Program
A typical WRE class consists of singing, flag and Bible pledges, prayer, games, snacks, prizes, Bible teaching, as well as memory work. The lessons are non-denominational in nature and taught from the Bible. WRE students are presented a Bible to use at home. Bibles, curriculum and materials are provided at class.
How to enroll your child
Enrollment is open to students from Spencer, Gosport, Patricksburg, and McCormick’s Creek Elementary Schools. Classes are held off-site and arranged during students' lunch breaks or recess periods.
